Welcome!
My name is Adam Janusz. I'm a registered clinical counsellor based in Vancouver, BC. I offer individual counselling services for mental health issues. Currently I offer virtual sessions only.
I work with a variety of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, addictions, sexual identity and relationship issues.
I utilize a variety of integrative techniques. I'm particularly drawn to Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Internal Family Systems and Prolonged Exposure Therapy. I have a background in Emotional Freedom Techniques, also known as tapping therapy. I am a LGBTQ+ affirming therapist.
I chose the name Affective Therapy for my practice because 'affect' means emotions, which are so imporant to the therapeutic process. Also, I like the way that affective sounds like effective, reminding me that the goal of a therapist should be to work themselves out of a job, helping the client to process the past and build new skills, so they can flourish on their own.
Before committing to therapy, it's important that the counsellor and the client are the right fit. As the saying goes, "it's the relationship that heals." But not every client is going to click with every therapist. So, I always recommend people do a short consulation call with any potential therapist to assess the connection.
